Important drop in infections but Almería adds three new deaths
The Ministry of Health notifies 143 cases corresponding to two days: Sunday and Monday
Start of a momentous week to see what is the evolution of the pandemic in the province and the effects of the so-called fourth wave. In recent days, new restrictions have come into force and the Junta de Andalucía does not rule out extending them if the trend of infections continues to rise.
The latest data update by the Andalusian Institute of Statistics and Cartography (IECA) includes a rise of 143 new cases detected in Almería through PDIA tests (Antigen test and PCR). A figure that corresponds to two days, after the decision of the Junta de Andalucía not to communicate the contagion data on Sundays.
Thus, the number of new cases falls, although it must be borne in mind that fewer diagnostic tests are carried out on weekends. In recent days, the province exceeded or stayed close to 200 daily infections.
The pandemic continues to show its cruellest side and, once again, the province has to mourn new deaths. The IECA website reports three deaths in the last 48 hours in Almería.
A total of 779 people with Covid-19 have died in the province since last March, the beginning of the pandemic.
Hospital admissions experienced a slight increase in these two days: with one more hospitalization in one of the Almeria centers and two in the Intensive Care Unit. In total, there are 135 people hospitalized, of which 50 are in ICU.
One more day, the positive news of the evolution of the pandemic is in the number of people recovered: 511 in the last 48 hours. There are already 44,711 people who have managed to defeat the virus.
The province has 6,182 active cases this Monday, April 19: it is the result of the difference between the total number of confirmed cases since the beginning of the pandemic (51,672) and the difference between the total number of deaths (779) and those recovered (44,711). ). A figure that in the province, months ago, reached more than 15,000 active cases.
Incident rates continue to rise. According to data collected by the Andalusian Institute of Statistics and Cartography, that of the province stands at 273.0 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days and that of the capital at 367.1. The Almería Health District has a rate of 352.8 and the Poniente District with 271, both at level 4 grade one since last week. However, we must highlight the evolution of the pandemic in the Levante-Almanzora Health District, which currently has a rate of 114.9.
