The last DUE Board of Directors of the year held at the El Ejido City Council today approved the initiation of the file for contracting the ‘Almerimar Potable Water Deposit’ project, which will involve an investment of close to one million euros. In addition, the Technical Clause Specifications and the particular Administrative Clauses Specifications have been approved.

The works, with a Base Bidding Budget of 927,777.97 euros, will consist of the construction of a new 3,000m3 capacity drinking water tank that will replace the old existing tank. Likewise, the control building and the auxiliary elements that will allow the maintenance of the supply to the population during the works have been projected; the exploitation of the same, in addition to facilitating the future expansion of the infrastructure by adding new vessels. "This is a project of great relevance since it will allow a substantial improvement in the provision of this service," Góngora added.
On the other hand, Góngora recalled that “the entry into service of the Potable Water Pumping Station from the Ejido Beach Reservoir to the Almerimar Reservoir, which will be completed soon, will allow the joint use of both reservoirs, significantly increasing the guarantee of the supply to the Almerimar area in the event of breakdown or unavailability of the existing catchments, in addition to allowing the supply of desalinated water to the area dominated by the new reservoir ”. These connection works for both deposits were awarded for an amount offered of 380,048.43 euros.
To this project are added the works that are being executed in Almerimar and that are also intended to improve the supply of drinking water, such as the "Renovation Project of the Supply Network of Ejido Beach, Almerimar, El Ejido", whose budget total execution amounts to 1,570,744 euros and consists of four phases.
Thus, the total number of projects started or in process aimed at improving the supply in Almerimar add up to a total amount of 2.5 million euros.
