As it happens I had to do quite a bit of shopping this morning. So I had the opportunity to pop in to the newly revamped Mercadona.

The first thing to point out is what I think is a mistake they have made in painting the car park area. As you drive in the parking spaces on the right are good to park in. As they are pointed diagonally towards you. The ones on the left are not so good to get in to correctly. As they are pointed away from you. From now on I will always be looking to get a parking space on the right (nearer the shop wall). Also, there are now walkways in the car park.
As you can see there is a nice place for people to park bikes. Right next to the outside store for the trolleys. One other thing is that there is no longer the opportunity to return your trolley close to the entrance of the car park. This is a bit of a nuisance if you are parked at that end of the car park.
As you can see, they now have big and small plastic trolleys. Instead of the metal trolleys and the baskets on wheels. The good news is you no longer need to put money in to take a trolley.
The first big change I noticed was the multi-language signage.
The next thing I noticed is that the booze and soft drinks are now in the top right hand corner of the shop. Furthest away from the tills. Where the pasta used to be.
The next change is that the majority of the freezer and chill cabinets are now vertical rather than horizontal.
Where the bakery used to be there is now a wall. I guess behind the wall is some part of their storage area.
The bakery is now further down towards the tills. Where the yogurt chillers used to be.
Where the booze used to be there is now olive oil amongst other things.
The fruit is in pretty much the same place as before. As is the fish counter. Sorry, I forgot to take a picture of the fish counter.
As you can see the checkouts have been revamped. Also, they are currently weighing fruit and veg at the till rather than you doing it yourself.
The final change I spotted was that there is a well signposted loo just behind the tills.Perfect for shoppers with incontinence.
