This photo by Jose A Vela is doing the rounds on Facebook at the moment. Christmas is coming....
As you can see from the poster above copied from the El Ejido Cultura site the Belén in El Ejido is now open for viewing at the town hall. I am sure people can work out opening dates and times from the poster above.
There is a rumour doing the the rounds at the moment that the Mercadona in Almerimar might be moving in the next couple of years.
Apparently, Mercadona lease the property at their current location rather than own it themselves. The rumour is that the owners of the freehold (the urbanisation(s) of properties nearly) are unhappy with the overnight noise of deliveries and the difficulty parking near their urbanisation. Also, perhaps Mercadona would prefer to own their own premises.
So it sounds like there may be a plan being hatched for Mercadona to relocate to another place in Almerimar in the next couple of years. I guess we will have to wait and see.
Something for the golfers....
You may know that there is a major change to the golf handicapping system due to be implemented in 2020. The aim is to have a single worldwide system (probably with a number of specific possible variants that different regions of the world can adopt).
As yet, the full technical details associated with the new system are not available. Also, there is no published launch date for it. However I have recently seen a suggestion that it might not go live until autumn 2020.
I guess we will just have to wait and see.
After a bowls competition last Thursday we went to Osteria Da Ralph (the Italian restaurant close to MacGowans) for the prize giving dinner. (Well done to Jacqui, Alan and Steve for winning the St. Andrews competition.)
While we were there the waitress confirmed that they have taken over the lease on the restaurant on the corner next door to them. The plan is for it to open as a restaurant specialising in fish dishes. The opening is likely to be pretty soon. Perhaps as early as this coming week (first week in December 2018).
The article here on Diario de Almería site has information about a round of the junior windsurfing world championships being held in Almerimar early next year. The event will be hosted by Víctor Fernández. He is the current and 3 time world champion windsurfer who hails from Almerimar.

Earlier today I was in the Levante (east) part of town. Taking some now photos for the then and now pictures on the Memorias de Almerimar Facebook page. I walked along the promenade and then up to the D´Bar area.
I heard recently that La Barbera had closed. As I was walking past, there were some guys repainting the La Barbera building. I ask them if it was re-opening soon. They said that at the moment they were just tidying it up. Once that had been done they would be looking for some new tenants.
Next stop was the D'Bar area of town. As you can see preparations are underway for the re-opening of D'Bar later this week.
Finally, Just behind D'Bar work continues on the new build properties there.
