There are many markets within driving distance of Almerimar. Most of them start reasonably early in the morning and finish no later than around 2.00pm.
Most of the markets open every week except for the last Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday of each month. The are all quite similar with a good collection of clothes, leather goods, footwear, food, ceramics & pictures etc.
Sunday - Vicar (the largest market) - take the motorway towards Almeria and turn off at Vicar (before Roquetas). Turn right and follow a winding road through the greenhouses downhill towards the sea. You will see the market when you reach the centre of town.
Wednesday - El Ejido - drive out of Almerimar and go over the motorway. Turn left at the Lidl roundabout, go past the tennis club on your right and across a small roundabout. Turn right at the next roundabout and keep going until you see the market on your left. You can park on the right.
Thursday - Roquetas de Mar - take the motorway towards Almeria and turn off at the Roquetas junction. Take a right at the large roundabout and head towards Roquetas on the bypass around Aguadulce. Follow the signs to Roquetas at the next roundabout then turn right at a T junction. Follow this road until you reach Grand Plaza on your right. Turn left and follow this road. You should be able to see the market from here.
One other interesting market is Ugijar Market - a smaller market that happens twice a month in the village located in the Alpujarras. Good for an interesting day out away from larger towns.
