Happy wedding anniversary to us today, 16 years!
We officially got married on the 29th and then had a church blessing on the 30th so we don´t always know which day to celebrate. A lot depends on what else is going on or what day of the week the dates fall on each year.
Anyway, we thought we´d celebrate it today as we are playing in the regular Friday golf tomorrow. We did a bit of work this morning then sorted out teams and bottles for Friday golf later then we popped down into the marina for a meal tonight.
We had a fantastic dinner at El Arroz and bumped into lots of friends including Richard & Ingrid and Fintan & Margaret while we were there.
For starter, we opted for, after much deliberation, mushrooms and clams in a wine sauce. This dish caught my eye and I persuaded John to try it. Along with that, we had the mini shrimp omelettes, which we had tried in the past. These were also very good and complimented the mushrooms and clams.
Main course was fish for both of us. I love fish and given the opportunity to have fresh fish when eating out, I pretty much tend to select that. I opted for sea bass which was plentiful and flavoursome. John chose the tuna which also was a good sized portion and tender.
The marina is buzzing now as we hit the holiday season so all in all a good time for local businesses here in Almerimar.

Congratulations on your 16th anniversary!!!
I love reading all the news about the club house. Please give a long report on how it is after tomorrow's competition. And play well...

Thanks for the kind comments. Much appreciated.
Jules- I think we still have a photo of the row boat song somewhere.
Sadly I got a present of a small bottle of cava and some chocolates today. Yes, we did come last in the golf. Jacqui came second. I will puiblish the full results later this evening or tomorrow.
We will take some photos inside the clubhouse tomorrow and publish them here so people can see what it looks like with people inside it. I popped inside today while they were setting up for tomorrow and it looks nice.
We will have to see about when it opens. Some rumours are August and some September. My guess is that it will be used as a venue for celebration dinners for a while before they get around to it opening as a functioning golf clubhouse but I guess we will have to wait and see.

Jules, in answer to your question.... what do I get for 16 yrs....hmmmm.... well constant earache perhaps
!Yes, sadly J´s team picked up the chocs today, (Mr Sly gets his revenge eh!). I reckon J´s choc stats are definitely NOT looking good now
My team did okay, and thanks for the great company of Bryn (and for all the nice Titleist balls), Paddy Mc and Mike L. I was particularly pleased with myself today when I birdied the 2nd hole, par 5 for 4 much appreciated points. A few holes where only 1 score counted, more than 2 of us typically did well but sadly, these weren´t picked for hidden holes. We gained an extra 4 points on top of our score of 85 to move us up into 2nd place.
Doug, Paul W, Lee P and Ingrid came in with 86 pts before the hidden holes. However, they didn´t mark down any extra 2nd and/or 3rd scores so therefore finished with the score they started with. That said, they still came 3rd
Well done today to the winning team of Issy (who also won near the pin)
, go girlies!!!! Andy E and Tom E and of course, Doris2 who, they hardly called upon, if at all.

It was a lovely evening. The food and service at El Arroz was great. Thanks to Inés, Juan Carlos, Angel and whoever was in the kitchen this evening.
Also, it was very pleasant having a chat with friends from Almerimar after our meal.
It was a great night.
